OBSERVATION OF MY ORAL PRESENTATION
This term we had done our first oral presentation of this course. There were many topics to chose like humor, computers... and my partners, Gisela and Pep, and me had chosen surgery.
We used a powerpoint that had supported our presentation. We hadn't include any text in any slide, only in some slides the title of each part. This powerpoint was very visual and in each slide there were photos, so it was entertaining and nice to see.
In my opinion, the time it takes doesn't matter because the real importance is that you spend this time well. Maybe our presentation was a bit longer but we had a lot of things to say. In fact, what's important is that we were correct and we had done it well.
The visual contact was good because I was looking to the people all the time. I had to look at my notes one time because in that moment my mind went blind. In spite of this, I was really pleased because I think that people noticed that we had worked a lot on it and that we were very self-confidents. In my opinion I was very fluent and moreover I made a lot of movements and gestures maybe too many but. I have to improve it, I have to relax, to speak slowly and try to don't touch my hair many times ( it's a typical gesture that I make when I'm nervous, I can't control it).
In my point of view, the oral presentation was well organized because first we introduced the origins of surgery, second the different types of surgery, then we talk about the boom of plastic surgery and about the prizes. We also talk about famous people who had operated themselves and people who is addicted. Finally we talk about the positive and the negative consequences and in the last slide we put a joke about surgery.
Most of the information we introduced was new for the people because I'm sure that they had heard something from it maybe but they didn't know a lot of questions about surgery.
All the information we put on the text was original because we looked up some information from Internet, then we summarized it and also translated it with our words, and some information about our ideas. It's a good way to work because then you know what are you saying.
I think that all the grammar and vocabulary were correct and right we used sentence linkers but in my opinion not too many. Some of the linking words we used were but, because, so, to conclude...
But we didn't use many pause fillers, some times I said well, so, for example...but not most of the time because we were very fluent.
In my opinion, I had a good pronunciation. It's possible that I pronounced some words wrong because when you are talking is easy to make mistakes. In spite of this, I think that most of the words were well pronounced because before doing the oral presentation, I looked up on a online dictionary of pronunciation. I changed my tone of voice because I'm very expressive and this is what I usually do. I think that I didn't speak with breaks or interruptions.
To conclude I think that we had done a good oral presentation. Probably we had made mistakes but I think that we hadn't to get worried because it was our first presentation and I'm secure that we will improve a lot of things. Therefore, in my opinion I can get an 8.5 or more.
