PROBLEMS WITH THE ILOGICAL DECISIONS OF THE STATE

I'm going to talk about the new plan of the government to donate money for the Ninis. Ninis in Spanish means not study and not work, so in English it would be notnot. These people are the ones who dropped out of school and also they don't work. They stop studying because they don't like it and they don't work maybe because they are lazy or maybe because they don't find work (because they have no qualifications).

Nowadays the economic situation of our country is very bad. Therefore it's very difficult to find jobs and it's even harder if you are a teenager. For example, if I was the boss and I had to take on people I would give preference to people who have a family, those who have worked before or those who have qualifications, rather than people who have had the opportunity of study and have wasted it.

The majority of people disagree with this question. It's very unfair that people who have decide to do nothing of their own free then have The State paying them for do training and introduce them into employment. If the economic situation is bad why do they squander the money? It's something incomprehensible.

I totally disagree because I'm a student and soon I'll go to University, like my friends, who also disagree about this. University is expensive and some people who would like to study can't afford to, so the State should help by paying these people, to help them meet their goals. Also, there aren't very many scholarships or fellowships; sometimes a scholarship is a student’s only opportunity to go to university. The scholarships and fellowships enable you to go abroad and improve your language or also help you with money problems.

To conclude, Ninis don't deserve this help from the State and politicians should be wise and do logical things.

TV PROGRAM

One of my favourite TV programmes is Fama and the topic of it is dance. I like it because I love dance and it’s one of the extracurricular activities I do. I dance in a group from Castelló d’Empúries with some friends since we were in the fifth course in Elementary school. When our group started we were the only three members! Now there are more groups and we are the oldest one.

Fama started four years ago and it still has a large audience, maybe more than ever because this year is not called only Fama; the fourth edition has the name of Fama Revolution and perhaps you will ask why this name change? The reason is that program directors wanted to make it different from other years, so they updated the programme.

This program is like a dancing school. It has teachers, different styles and of course, the headmistress (called Lola.) There are five teachers; consequently there are five styles, one for each teacher. These styles are street dance, commercial dance, ballet, jazz fusion, funky and Broadway style. All styles are perfect and so are the teachers.

As I said before, the structure is different from other times. Usually in this program people dance and compete in pairs but at the beginning of the new series, they did the dances in groups. Then it became like other years, so every week each pair of dancers has a different style and they have to do the best.

When I see them dancing I get moved because when you dance, you transmit feelings. It doesn’t matter what feeling, it can be h

appiness, sadness, fear, pride…it depends on the song and on your emotional state. So dance is more than dance, it is a way to express your inner feelings.

LADY GAGA AND THE SOCIOLOGY OF FAME

One teacher of the University of South California plans to teach a course called "Lady gaga and the Sociology of Fame".

Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta is the real name of Lady Gaga. It seems to be normal in the famous world to change your name, because a lot of people do this for example a model called Agyness Deyn whose real name is Laura Hollins.

Lady gaga is loved by some people and hated by other people; for me Lady Gaga is spectacular. She has become famous in less time than other celebrities and also she is more famous than some of them. And why has this happened? The reason is that she has an excellent brain. I say that because she knew how to succeed, she has made herself different from the others wearing her strange and outlandish clothes. One of her dresses was made from meat! She has also succeed in telling shocking news about herself and immediately these news are known by a lot of people like when the singer said that she was an hermaphrodite. Most of these news are false, like the last new because it's impossible that somebody can be hermaphrodite (only some animals are). Of course, the most important reason is that her songs sound very good.

In my opinion I think that this course of sociology will bring good results because music is always in our lives and the majority of the people like music. Also, it will be more entertaining if we talk about sociology associated to Lady Gaga because she is cool and she is present in the actual music, so most of the people have heard about her.

Lady Gaga is famous in the music field, but also provides a great example for some subjects like sociology.

The actual bad situation of Haiti

Do you remember the disaster that happened last year in Haiti? This village was affected by an earthquake followed by a tsunami, so it caused a lot of deaths and destructed most buildings.

Now, approximately one year later, has grow up panic in the habitants of Haiti, but not for the risk of an earthquake, it surged because some of the Haitians are suffering the consequences of this natural disaster, cholera.

Haiti is not a developed country, so it was very difficult to reconstruct the city, to attend to all the injured people, to clean out the city of dead bodies… but what’s strange is that the other part of the island (Dominican Republic) is a wealthy country; it’s wealth derived from tourism, it means that one part is extremely poor and the other one rich. The persons who had governed in Haiti had the fault because they didn’t improve the situation of the country; they only wanted to enrich themselves. Consequently, it causes social inequalities.

People from Haiti are living in inhuman conditions, and this has helped the appearance of diseases like cholera. Cholera is a disease that makes all the liquid inside you go out, it means that you become dehydrated. Every day it appears in the news and every day there are more deaths. This terrible disease is spreading to more places and it’s very difficult to attend to all the sick because there aren’t sufficient doctors.

In my opinion it’s pathetic because some people have a luxurious life and other people, like Haitians, are hungry and suffering a terrible disease. But the most shocking thing is that they know that some of them will die, therefore they are getting crazy because they need help.

I think that politicians have to do something and send doctors, psychologists, people to cheer them up... but it also causes a problem because who will want to go to this country and put himself in danger? If they go there they have the possibility to contract the disease, luckily in the world there are volunteers who will go there and helped the needy. In spite of these kind people, it’s a big problem that will be very difficult to solve.

BOOKS ARE USEFUL FOR LEARNING

Last Saint George's day, my parents bought me a book about science. When I say science a lot of people would think that reading this type of book is boring and tedious. In fact, most of the time they are correct, but what they don't know is that my science book is different.

The book I'm reading is very interesting because it has a special method. It's divided into two parts.

In the first part we have scientific problems to solve. These problems are very well described because the wording is simple; it means that it is easy to understand. Every problem is about two boys (Isaac and Albert) and a girl (Marie), they expose a question related to the situation at that moment. In some problems, they suggest possible solutions, but it doesn't mean that those possible solutions are the real ones, maybe both are correct or only one of them has solved it. One of the problems was who is going to get more wet if it rains and Marie said that the one who is running will get wet faster, but Isaac’s suggestion was the person who is walking, so who has the right answer?

The answer was the ones who is walking will get more wet, but it seems that it should be the one who is running, because when it's raining and you are going fast it seems that it rains with more intensity, but it's only feeling. You will find the answers in the second part. This part contains the solutions to the problems. The solution is explained in easy words for people who aren't connected with scientific questions, so everybody can read and understand this book.

A disadvantage of the book is that the last part is in the back and it's not very convenient because you have to turn the pages all time. I had to put two markers- one on the problem that I'm doing and the other on the solution, so now it's not a problem. The book has this structure to make us think more, because if we had the answer after the question we would directly read it , so in some way it is an advantage.

I'll recommend this book to everybody who likes reading and who is interested in science or to someone who wants to know this fantastic world.

RESEARCH PROJECT

This year we are doing second of Batxillerat and in this course all of the students have to do a research project.

This project involves searching for information about a chosen subject. It's useful because we have to work with a lot of tools like Internet, books, encyclopaedias... and also we have contact with other students when we make interviews or when we pass out questionnaires.

In my case, I've chosen a question from the field of Biology, it's a disease called Glutton Intolerance but first, I wanted to do a project related to genetics. It was about little flies that are known by the name of fruit flies and I had to do experiments with them. As it was very complicated, I had to change it. Now I'm very satisfied, because the actual project is easier and I've found a lot of information about it.

I had chosen this topic for the following reason: this summer I did extra classes for children and one girl had glutton intolerance. I would say that she inspired me.

I started doing the writing part. For this I had to search the information on the Internet and in a book called Glutton intolerance and gastronomy. Then I passed out questionnaires to all courses, from first of ESO to second of Batxillerat. Now I have to assimilate the results so, this involves a lot of work for me, but I have no other option, I have to do it. Finally I'll have to do the oral presentation, the worst part. I don't like this part because when I do it, I become very nervous and I speak too fast.

In spite of these problems, I have found my research very interesting and I hope to get a good mark.
