REFLECTION OF MY ORAL PRESENTATION

This is the presentation of the second term and the topic was doing the oral presentation of the research project in English. It wasn’t very difficult because we already had done the one in Catalan, so we only had to translate it. Mine research project was about celiac disease that is also called gluten intolerance.

I have used a PowerPoint to support my presentation. It was well in the structure and well in the content because I put something of text but not very much only some words to orientate the people and also the objectives because I didn’t find a good slide for it. In spite of this little parts, in most of the slides were images and it was better because it makes the presentation more entertaining. In this oral presentation I haven’t count the time because I think that the importance is to do it well and not to get worried about the time.

I was looking almost all the time at the people. I think that only one or two times I had to read my notes because I was nervous and my mind got white but I worked very hard on it. I understood everything and also I remembered everything I had to say, so I was very fluent. I did a lot of gestures maybe too many movements but in my opinion it’s normal because when you speak in public you become nervous for the situation.

I think that my presentation was well organized because first, I made a little introduction of why I had chosen that topic, the objectives and the methodology. Then I spoke about the disease and finally I said the conclusions but in my opinion the text needed more connectors.

The text was rich in grammar and vocabulary. The verbs were in the correct tense, the sentences where well structured, I used good words, etc. One point against is that I’d used little pause fillers because I think that I didn’t get stuck.

In my opinion I had a good pronunciation because I practice it before a lot in my home. I changed my tone of voice and I was very fluent because I didn’t speak with breaks and to separate the paragraphs I made little pauses.

Summarizing I think that I did a good presentation but also that are aspects that I have to improve like speak lowly, make more pauses, make less movements, don’t touch my hair all the time, improve mi pronunciation, put more connectors in the text, etc. I think that I can get more of eight points.

MY ORAL PRESENTATION

PLATIC SURGERY

OBSERVATION OF MY ORAL PRESENTATION

This term we had done our first oral presentation of this course. There were many topics to chose like humor, computers... and my partners, Gisela and Pep, and me had chosen surgery.

We used a powerpoint that had supported our presentation. We hadn't include any text in any slide, only in some slides the title of each part. This powerpoint was very visual and in each slide there were photos, so it was entertaining and nice to see.
In my opinion, the time it takes doesn't matter because the real importance is that you spend this time well. Maybe our presentation was a bit longer but we had a lot of things to say. In fact, what's important is that we were correct and we had done it well.

The visual contact was good because I was looking to the people all the time. I had to look at my notes one time because in that moment my mind went blind. In spite of this, I was really pleased because I think that people noticed that we had worked a lot on it and that we were very self-confidents. In my opinion I was very fluent and moreover I made a lot of movements and gestures maybe too many but. I have to improve it, I have to relax, to speak slowly and try to don't touch my hair many times ( it's a typical gesture that I make when I'm nervous, I can't control it).

In my point of view, the oral presentation was well organized because first we introduced the origins of surgery, second the different types of surgery, then we talk about the boom of plastic surgery and about the prizes. We also talk about famous people who had operated themselves and people who is addicted. Finally we talk about the positive and the negative consequences and in the last slide we put a joke about surgery.

Most of the information we introduced was new for the people because I'm sure that they had heard something from it maybe but they didn't know a lot of questions about surgery.
All the information we put on the text was original because we looked up some information from Internet, then we summarized it and also translated it with our words, and some information about our ideas. It's a good way to work because then you know what are you saying.

I think that all the grammar and vocabulary were correct and right we used sentence linkers but in my opinion not too many. Some of the linking words we used were but, because, so, to conclude...
But we didn't use many pause fillers, some times I said well, so, for example...but not most of the time because we were very fluent.

In my opinion, I had a good pronunciation. It's possible that I pronounced some words wrong because when you are talking is easy to make mistakes. In spite of this, I think that most of the words were well pronounced because before doing the oral presentation, I looked up on a online dictionary of pronunciation. I changed my tone of voice because I'm very expressive and this is what I usually do. I think that I didn't speak with breaks or interruptions.

To conclude I think that we had done a good oral presentation. Probably we had made mistakes but I think that we hadn't to get worried because it was our first presentation and I'm secure that we will improve a lot of things. Therefore, in my opinion I can get an 8.5 or more.
